What a pleasure to arrive on the other side of the planet performing with three wonderful musicians from Dublin (Ronan and Conor Guilfoyle, Mike Neilson) around Australia, with the additional pleasure of having the oportunity to revisit with one of the greatest jazz pianists of our time, Mike Nock. I knew Mike from his sojourn in the Apple (NY) and San Francisco as well as a participant in one of the pioneering fusion groups, the Fourth Way. I had the chance to tour Australia with Mike, drummer Ed Soph and bassist Ron McClure in the early 80s and record what is one of my better known recordings, "The Opal Heart."

 

This concert you are listening to was really what jazz is about. A few hugs, some old stories shared, a quick rehearsal, dinner and then a midnight set. Every note you hear was the first and last. What a ball and what a thrill to be together with Mike again. Enjoy
